HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Phthisiopulmonology is a structural unit of the Non-State Educational Institution “Medical and Social Institute of Tajikistan.” It was established on June 10, 2025. Order No. 04-350 dated July 1, 2024.

Since its establishment, the department has been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences Abdurasul Boboevich Sanginov. He has made a major contribution to organizing the department, recruiting and assigning staff, and providing equipment, visual aids, and resources for the educational process.

The department teaches phthisiology in three languages: Tajik (the state language), Russian, and English. Its staff undertake a wide range of activities aimed at improving teaching methodology, research, publications, and educational and character-building work. The quality of practical and theoretical instruction is improved through the development of specialized teaching and methodological materials covering all sections of the subject for students of all faculties.

EDUCATIONAL AND CHARACTER-BUILDING ACTIVITIES

One of the most important tasks in educating young people is fostering patriotism and humanism, particularly adherence to professional ethics and medical deontology. Lectures on ideological, civic, and educational topics are delivered to young department staff and students.

SCIENTIFIC AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The scientific work of faculty members plays an important role in the department. In accordance with the institute’s research plan, the department works to develop research capacity, encourage professional development, attract talented young teachers to postgraduate and degree-seeking programs, improve teaching and research through innovative educational methods, and incorporate scientific findings into instruction.

DEPARTMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2007, the Head of Department, Doctor of Medical Sciences Abdurasul Boboevich Sanginov, received the Ismoil Somoni Prize in Science and Technology for Young Scientists. In 2018, he was awarded the badge “Excellence in Healthcare of the Republic of Tajikistan.”

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Improving the quality of education is widely recognized as one of the institute’s main goals, and the staff of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology fully support this initiative. Fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-year students in General Medicine, Medical Psychology, and Dentistry study theoretical and practical aspects of phthisiopulmonology in Tajik, Russian, and English.
